Yaya Xu is a Chinese multimedia artist based in NYC. She earned her MFA in Computer Art from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2014. Her work has been recognized with a Red Dot Award and screened at the St. Louis International Film Festival, among others. Xu’s work has also been exhibited at Bandao Gallery in Shanghai. Her music video for Sam Smith’s song "I Feel Love" has garnered 3.3 million views on YouTube.
Xu's visual language, shaped by her commercial experience in cartoon, branding, and music, offers a critical perspective on industrialism, consumerism, and technology. Her vivid visual art blends provocative subjects and explores a surrealist view of the poetic gap between human cognition and the essence of being.
